it's not that i don't think my baby is brilliant, it's just that i don't want to start years and years of pressure and expectations now.
- but, today i witnessed several things that might be evidence that she is indeed a genius afterall.
- she can bend over and stand up. i saw her do this a couple of times. if she's standing and drops something, she can squat down to pick it up, and stand up again. as far as i've read, this is pretty developmentally advanced for a ten adn a half month old.
- she wants to unlock things. this evening, she took my keys and ran over to the garage door. she's seen me unlock the garage door millions of times. she took my car alarm bipper and was banging it on the master lock on our garage. then, she went over to another lever on our garage, saw there was no lock, and then went back to the lever with the master lock. when i showed her how the actual key fit in the lock, she knelt down beside me so she could see the key going in. (an engineer, maybe?)
- she can catch things in her mouth. tae has one of those water mill toys for in the tub. i like to hold it right under the faucet so it spins pretty fast. tonight, she decided that she wanted to drink the water that was spraying off of the mill. she inched up closer and closer and tilted her head up... and caught some ofthe water in her mouth.
- she reads art spiegelman. i think she's trying to make up for her affection for the mcdonald's little person. tae has jumped from dr. seuss and eric carle straight to art spiegelman. granted, his book, in the shadow of no towers is like the biggest board book ever (from the library). i've been reading some of it to tae, and i think she appreciates the darkness and cynicism. either that, or the giant board book-ness of it all.
